Exciting fall colors and flavors await

Welcome to autumn in Prince Edward Island, Canada

Pastoral green hills. Beaches that stretch forever next to some of the warmest waters north of the Carolinas. Charming seaside villages and farming communities. Friendly, hospitable people who welcome everyone near and far. Welcome to my backyard.

Prince Edward Island. The name of Canada’s smallest province (in fact, the birthplace of Confederation) is renowned the world over as a scenic marvel, a genuine gem thriving with natural beauty and wonderment.

While many view the Cradle of Confederation (called Abegweit by the Island’s original inhabitants, the Mi’kmaq) as strictly a summer destination, believe me when I say you’ll find plenty of fun things to do as the days get shorter, a chill comes into the evening air, and the landscape bursts into a riot of orange, red, and yellows.

Sure, autumn in Prince Edward Island may be slightly chilly for a dip in the ocean, but the less humid temperatures are perfect for exploring this amazing island by cycling on the Confederation Trail. Along with those vibrant colors and cooler weather come many exciting events such as the Belfast Corn Maze, Open Farm Day at Compton’s Very Berry Patch and Compton’s Vegetable Stand in Summerside, The PEI Shellfish Festival and the Charlottetown Farmer’s Market, to name a few. You may not have thought much about this, but PEI remains a happening place year-round.

So, if you’ve been contemplating a journey to the east coast of Canada with a desire to see Prince Edward Island for yourself, regardless of whether you visit in the summer or autumn, you’ll be enthralled by your new picturesque surroundings and the tasty culinary delights that await.
